Everything You Need to Know About Shure Earphones

by Hyashi Machida

The Shure earphones are manufactured by the Shure Incorporated which manufactures consumer and professional audio equipment such as microphones, earphones and other audio electronics. These earphones come in extensive ranges and can be used with any MP3 players. The earphones are designed with a unique technology called the closed canal sound isolation which helps in blocking all the outside noise without the use of active noise cancellation. The earphones are much lighter and portable than many others. They come with foam and plastic sleeves which give greater comfort and fitness to the ears. Firm and better fitting of the earphones ensure best quality audio output without the interference of outside sounds.

The Shure earphones were first introduced to support the Shures personal monitor systems. They were later made available independently with the rising popularity of MP3 players and iPods. The musicians, audio producers and audiophiles have started suing the earphones on their own equipment other than Shure mixer system or personal monitor systems. Shure introduced their earphones initially to the pro audio and consumer audio professionals with their E Series version. Then they introduced earphones especially for use with cellular devices. Then they introduced I Series which is a combination of the technology of E Series and the Cellular model earphones. The I Series earphones can be used both in cellular as well as music devices. Then came the G Variation of the E Series earphones which was introduced to cater to the mobile gamers.

The Shure E500 is a three-armature model earphone and a much simplified version designed for the consumer channel. The uniqueness of this model is the black foam tips and Push-to-Hear accessory. Shure then released the SE110 earphone models exclusively fort he consumer group, making the E Series available only for the professional audio producers. However all the Shure earphones come with the unique feature of blocking all external sounds with their unique technology called he closed canal sound isolation. This technology serves its purpose without active sound cancellation which typically requires batteries. The perfect and appropriate fit of the earphones with the help of foam and plastic sleeves also contribute to better quality sound without the interference of the outsides noises.

The Shure E5c model is a much brighter version with a rich overall sound output compared to the other models of Shure. The Shure E5 however was not very popular among all the consumers as the design of the sleeves was shorter and narrower which might not give a comfortable accommodation to all ear sizes and types, this resulted in lack of proper isolation from outside sounds. This lack of isolation sometimes also created in high and uncomfortable frequencies of the sound.

The earphone assembly of some of the Shure earphones comes with an internal vent to improve the airflow around the low-mass armature. This airflow gives an illusion of a large enclosure and improving the minor mid and high response and the bass response significantly. The earphones and the internal vent is thus sealed to prevent any loss in isolation.
